Grants for loft and cavity wall insulation are finally available!
Finally, the news that UK homeowners have been waiting for… The Great British Insulation Scheme has already begun, and Ofgem has stated that it will be available to a broader range of householders than ever before.
While it will continue to assist low-income people, the subsidised insulation initiative will now also be available to customers who can afford it but reside in the UK’s least energy-efficient homes.
As a result, you do not have to obtain any type of housing assistance to qualify.
The initiative was put up by government officials and ECO in an effort to alleviate the current fuel poverty crisis and cut carbon emissions across the country.
If your home does not already have loft or cavity wall insulation, you will most likely qualify for a fully funded installation of one single measure. Customers with existing but weak or degraded insulation may still qualify; however, a customer contribution may be required, as determined by a Retrofit Assessment survey.
Homeowners could save significant money on cavity wall or loft insulation upgrades, which will enhance their home’s EPC rating while lowering energy bills in the future.
The GBIS (formally ECO+) is expected to run from Summer through to 2026 with the goal of reducing each homes energy bills by £300 – £400 per annum and we are encouraging all homeowners to look into this.
Loft and cavity wall insulation, as well as external wall insulation, solar, heating control updates, and other measures, will be included.
