Things to consider before a cavity wall installation
Cavity wall insulation is a method of insulating a building or home between the inner and outer wall and generally speaking can be an effective way to improve thermal performance and energy efficiency. However if the cavity is not in good condition to start then it could cause you more problems than it solves.
A pre installation survey should always be undertaken by the installer before any works are agreed with you.
There are often concerns, that by having cavity wall insulation installed, that it will increase damp issues within the walls rather than reduce them. This negativity is usually associated with more conventional insulating methods such as loose blown in fibres such as fluff, mineral wool that can hold moisture as well as sag over time, creating cold spots throughout the walls.
Before proceeding with cavity wall insulation for any property, it’s a recommended to have a professional assessment to ensure that the walls are structurally in tact and that the cavity is free from damp and obstructions.
Additionally, if your property has been previously insulated and you’re unsure whether it has been done correctly or if you’re experiencing cold spots throughout your home, a pre installation survey will determine this and will notify you if an extraction is required in the event that a partial fill (top up)isn’t possible.
It’s also worth noting that certain types of older properties such as listed buildings, conservational areas or those with specific architectural features, may not be suitable for cavity wall insulation or may have certain restrictions in place.

One of the many benefits of carbon coating bonded bead cavity wall insulation, is that this system is non water absorbent so any water that does happen to penetrate the external wall, trickles downward throughout the cavity and is dispersed back outside at floor level before it reaches the inside of your home. Keeping your home free from damp and cold water ingress. It’s also a bonded system, so this won’t sag over time and eliminates the worry of cold patches forming within the walls. Bonus!
This bonded bead system is suited to most homes to include older properties; as long as the cavity is in good condition and can be accessed.
