Surveyor training & protocol now available

It’s certainly been a bumpy road for installers and customers within the spray foam industry who’ve to date, been faced with misleading negativity circulated around this product meaning that subsequently, it’s led to consumers being faced with mortgage delays and the fear of their homes being left devalued and installers out of pocket as they’ve unnecessarily had to remove the insulation.

It’s been a real shame to witness this great insulating product get completely tarnished due to lack of knowledge and training available to surveyors and building professionals to date. Particularly after the success of the Green Homes Grant where the government endorsed a large volume of installs, which created a fantastic opportunity for both installers and consumers to future proof their homes and contribute to reducing the UKs carbon footprint.

Finally NEW spray foam guidance has been created by a collective of leading industry stake holders and is now available from spring 2023

The industry’s largest spray foam manufacturers have been working tirelessly for a the last number of years, alongside the Royal Institution Of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Insulation Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) and Property Care Association (PCA) and many of the UK’s leading financial institutions to combat these issues.

The new guidance has been made publicly available and will provide a positive turning point for anyone facing any concerns around spray foam insulation industry and its installers moving forward. Lenders such as Nationwide have updated their policies based around this protocol and other such as  Barclays have also been reviewing their literature so it won’t be long before other large lenders are forced to follow suit.

In addition to this, industry leaders such as Huntsman Building Solutions are now offering FREE surveyor training and have already started successfully delivering this. This is a much welcomed resource that will be of immense benefit to all; as surveyors and other building professionals will have access to the knowledge they require to recognise spray foam insulation measures and supply both fair and accurate comment.

The next surveyor training held by hBs is being held on 13 April 2023

The course can be booked online here (spaces are limited)   https://www.linkedin.com/events/hbsuniversityvirtualtraining-uk7032295047739924481/

Now, there is some work also required from the installer in order to ensure that this new protocol is met to include undertaking the correct training plus supplying and fitting a product in line with its own system requirements and accreditations.

Moving forward, installers will be required to supply:

  • A full homeowner pack to each customer containing all pre/post survey and technical product documents in relation to the install.
  • A system that is installed according to its own certification (BBA or KIWA) and check the products restrictions with regards to high and low resistance membranes.

We strongly recommend that all customers conduct their own research ahead of agreeing any work  to check with the installer they’re using is adequately trained and can meet the new protocol.

Here at Sealsixty we supply all of the above and strive to provide all of our customers with a professional and bespoke service to meet their requirements. So you can rest assured, you’re in good hands with us!
