Do I qualify for funded home insulation?
The government has introduced a new eligibility checker to indicate if you qualify for funding to enhance your home’s insulation measures.
Loft and cavity wall insulation are available under the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS). In order to qualify, a property must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or lower and fall within England’s or Scotland’s council tax categories A through D.
The government anticipates that about 300,000 homes will qualify for the programme, which is expected to be of enormous benefit to households throughout the UK.
“Cut your energy bills by £300-£400 a year”
Once the installation is complete, it is intended that qualifying homes would be able to reduce their yearly energy costs by an average of £300 to £400 while simultaneously increasing energy efficiency across the country to long-term protect against fuel poverty for the most vulnerable.
The new programme expands the current Energy Company Obligation, which provides low-income people with free home energy efficiency upgrades like insulation, heat pumps, and solar panels.
Because insulation keeps heat inside your home, you can heat it to a comfortable temperature while using less energy.
As more people move away from gas boilers, good insulation becomes more crucial for homes utilising low-carbon heating systems like heat pumps.
